Thanks to all who participated yesterday in the Eight Mile Plains stake radio mapping project. The project successfully demonstrated complete coverage of the stake using only two strategically located antennas. Everyone seemed to have a good time and for some it was their first real practical use of amateur radio since achieving their licence. A big thank you to all involved.

For all those involved in the Centenary Stake Foundation Licence course, we are looking at getting this underway commencing on the 13th May starting at 7pm, and anticipate that it will take about 6-7 weeks to cover the curriculum. There are still places available, so if you need more information or want to enrol in a course, click on the "contact us" tab above, or email ldsbern@gmail.com.
For anyone who hasn't heard about this yet, Centenary Stake is running a Foundation Licence...

As a small addendum to some of the topics discussed on Wednesday night, we haven't planned any courses for standard or advanced licence upgrades at this stage, though if there is enough interest we would certainly be willing to consider one. Please contact us or leave a comment indicating your interest in the forum if this is something you would consider to be useful. Be aware though that such a course would take considerably longer to run than a foundation course, and would...

If you are looking for a gradual learning curve into the world of constructing gadgets, then I suggest maybe starting with something from Talking Electronics. Their projects are not amateur radio projects at all, but rather are “FM Bugs” which are simple little transmitters with only a few components than can be picked up on any normal FM radio and have a range from a couple of hundred metres up to a couple of kilometres depending on which project you build. They publish a book...
